1998-1999 Midget Awards
Ramada Inn was the site of the 18th Annual Sudbury Minor Hockey Association Midget Division Awards Banquet. Major award winners included (front row, left to right) Trevor Miller (Lorne Doyle Trophy, most valuable player in the playoffs), Jordon Kennedy (Duncan Trophy, best goaltender during regular season), Tony Anzil (P.R.l.D.E. Trophy, most improved player), Mike Brimner (Toe Blake Trophy, most valuable player) and Ryan Wicklander (Toe Blake Trophy, most valuable player and Marcel Clements Memorial Trophy [top scorer]) as well as (back row, left to right), Brad Givoque (Roland Guignard Memorial Trophy, best goaltender In the playoffs), Nathan Rehel (Roland Guignard Memorial Trophy, best goaltender In the playoffs), Andrew Trebb (SMHA Trophy, best defenceman), and Andrew llves (SMHA Trophy, best defenceman).
1998-1999 Scholarships
Seven players were presented with scholarships during the 18th Annual Sudbury Minor Hockey Association Midget Division Awards Banquet at the Ramada Inn. Recipients included (left to right) Ryan Wicklander, Andrew Trebb, Steve Primeau, Ryan Lange, Andrew llves, Curtis Gilbert and David Briand. Each recipient received scholarships valued at $500 each. Trebb also received the John A. MacDonald Scholarship Award valued at $500. MacDonald was a former president in the SMHA. Lange was recipient of the Eric MacLeod Memorial Scholarship, also valued at $500. MacLeod was a longtime volunteer of the Silver Stick-Red Hamill Memorial Hockey Tournament in Sudbury., Gilbert, Primeau and Briand played with Sudbury Cara's Nickel Capitals of the Great North Midget League while Trebb and Wicklander played with the Copper Cliff Dairy Wolverines. llves and Lange were regulars with the Sudbury Sports Excellence Red Wings this past season.
